It was pouring rain and I had a hard time finding the door to the Carpenters workshop, a very discreet but grand gallery in the Marais, a block away from BHV super-trendy store. But when I saw the true « jewels » designed by South Korean artist Wonmin Park, the sky became blue ! The poetry and refinement of his resin pieces of furniture is mind blowing and I still dream about them today. I was happily pleased to find other pieces of his at Musée des Arts Décoratifs’s show “Korea Now!”.
Simple stools, book shelves, two tables which can serve as desk or dining table, all in mauve, pinks and blues. The translucence of the material to which the artist sometimes adds glass (in the bookshelves) gives a magical and light feeling to his art.
Other artists show in this very special space, such as Australian Charles Trevelyan who makes lamps or French Mathieu Lehanneur, who works with glass and marble.
Opened in 2011 by Julien Lombrail and Loic le Gaillard in the former Galerie de France space, the gallery has a sister in London on Albemarle Street. And will open in New York at 693 Fith, this fall. (until October 14)

I like the stools best; they look like some sort of magic giant candy.
