In 2021, Petra Palumbo has done everything right. As she says herself, “Looking back, 2021 was a bit of a blurr. It feels like I gave birth to twins, my daughter Vaila and the Flagship – both arriving almost at the same time and both in need of love, attention and time. It was a trying year but also the best.” When she married Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, in 2016, Petra knew that the future lied partly in Scotland, near Inverness, where the Frasers have been established on the Beauly (Beau Lieu as Mary Queen of Scots used to call it) river since 1458. I already loved going to this village for its magical tweed and cashmere shop, Campbell’s of Beauly, and its golf courses nearby, now I have a second reason to go.

The Frasers are an extraordinary family with courageous fighters including the 15 th Lord Lovat, Simon’s grand father,  who fought in WWII and landed in Dieppe, and took part in the Battle of Normandy. It also includes  literary stars such as Lady Antonia, the author of “Mary, Queen of Scots” and “Marie Antoinette” among many other books, and her daughters Rebecca, Flora and Natasha who each in their own genre, are accomplished writers. Petra’s mother in law Virginia writes on houses and her sisters in law are both well known models and public relations.

When they decided to return to live partly on their estate in Beauly, the young couple developed fishing activities and Petra used her unique taste to create her own Scottish world. The shop is set in an old bank near the square and glass and wool items are all designed by local artisans.

Petra Palumbo have also partnered with Trees for Life. For every purchase, each customer will have the option to give a £1 voluntary contribution at checkout, which will be matched to plant trees in the Scottish Highlands. So far, 250 trees have already been planted.

What I prefer in the collection is the series of bedside carafes and hearts in glass called Jelly mould which you can( find in France anymore. And also the new blue cobalt collection… there are baby blankets and multiple handkerchiefs with Scottish decors. Also needlepoint knits and Delft tiles.
