Sandrine Kiberlain and Jean Rochefort, a wininng team!

« Floride » is a strange title for a film on the topic of Alzheimer : in director Philippe Le Guay’s film, the word symbolizes the dream of a father to visit his daughter, who died eight years ago and lived in Miami. The story is charming, absurd, moving, funny and dark at the same time, but the main interest is Jean Rochefort, who at 85 manages to occupy the screen for 90 mns. And he is so attractive !

The fashion codes are fabulous

His costumes designed by Elizabeth Tavernier are a constant fashion show and his thick grey hair and famous mustache are riveting all along. Sandrine Kiberlain a steady excellent actress, is the perfect good willing daughter, who tries to have a life, and finally accepts to put her father in a retirement home. But the subtlety of behaviors and situations is such, that one comes out with a good feeling even though the topic makes us all anxious.

Sarcastic and naughty

Jean Rochefort has said in interviews on television and in the Journal du Dimanche, how painful shooting this film had been for him, sending him a mirror of his own death. Most of his actor friends have died except for Jean Paul Belmondo and Jean Pierre Marielle, a generation of giants on the French movie scene.

With his scarf and hat, he could be in a fashion show!

He is so real on screen and so funny with his sexual obsessions and his constant fear of loosing his freedom, that one can relate to every little scene.  This film will remain his masterpiece, he literally « crève l’écran », his screen presence is outstanding. (Out in France since mid August)
