Finding good Japanese restaurants that are not overpriced is not so easy in Paris and I was very excited when my blond Australian friend « who speaks Japanese fluently » took me to Kura, the ugliest looking place in the 16 th arrondissement near La Muette. Well it was a major surprise, for the food was delicious and the atmosphere lovely, with a charming Japanese manager who has been living in Paris long enough to be voluble and smiling !

We had sushi on an enormous long dish, yellow fish of the day on rice and Chirashi in a bowl (33€). All was incredibly fresh and tasty and served with soup . You can also choose Omakase, the menu of the chef for 47€ . Lunch menu is at 26€.

A treasure place

The restaurant is open every day including Sunday and is faithful to its name : Kura means treasure chest, the place where rice, sake and money were traditionnally kept..

Close your eyes in front of the building and enjoy the lovely meal. (56 rue des Boulainvilliers, 16th)

  1. I always take my clients there and recommend them….the chirashi! They also have excellent dessert concocted in house by a famous Japanese “patissier”
