Merry Christmas to all of you!

Poinsettia, THE Christmas flower by excellence

Since we are all spending a lot of time at home at the moment, here is my last recipe of the year provided by Laurence Dumaine Calle who is a very good cook when she is not collecting contemporary art or preparing the Bob Calle Prize she offers every other year for the best artist’s book. It is sorrel soup and is as easy to make as it is delicious to eat. Have a lovely (small) Christmas and cheers to all the good news that await us in 2021.

Sorrel soup includes carrots, onion and leeks

For 8 people (you can always freeze the leftovers) use one onion, two whites of leeks, 2 carrots and 5 bunches of sorrel. Put the onion, carrots and leeks in a pan with a little butter and oil. Cover and cook for ten minutes always tossing. Add some water, one chicken broth cube and 2 cubes of beef broth Maggi, then add 2 litres of water. Cook for 30 mns after the water starts boiling. The soup is ready to be mixed thoroughly. You can add little heavy cream just before serving.

Colorful fruit and vegetable come from Portugal at Bordallo Pinheiro

And to serve it, you can shop at Bordallo Pinheiro, the colorful Portuguese faïence manufacturer who creates such fun bowls and plates. Bordallo Pinheiro, 258 bd Saint Germain and 42 bd du Temple, Paris.

A pretty Christmas decor by Hickox Williams on Beacon Hill

Don’t hesitate to decorate your house in a new way whether you have a Xmas tree or not. Here is an example of Architects’ Hickox Williams in Boston who played with their window on Beacon Hill. Now is the time to reinvent our interiors…

  1. Lovely photos as usual but the one that particularly moved me was Brigid’s window ! Back in the 60s, my paternal grandmother had a very pretty house with views everywhere except in the kitchen. She too had a window behind her sink, and she also had glass shelves installed , on which she kept her collection of African violets. I was only 5 or 6 at the time but I thought it was so pretty and violets of all varieties remind me of her. So -thanks for reminding me of it !

Have a very good Christmas…… And may next year be better !
