There is something whimsical about Sheila Hicks’ woolen art “ApprenTissages” exhibited in the courtyard of Musée Carnavalet until October 2. At the inauguration, the boxwood and flower bushes gave a welcome freshness to an overheated Marais. Hôtel Carnavalet was designed in the Renaissance and finished in the 17 th century by Mansart, is closing for renovation soon and Festival d’Automne had the great idea of asking its curator, Valérie Guillaume to host an exhibition of the Nebraska born artist.Read More

There is still a magical Ali Baba cave in Paris, and it is called Galerie Kugel ! Marie Obegi, an artist to watch
It’s always a little bit nerve racking to discover the work of someone you know. What if you hate it and can’t find the words to remain polite and flatter the artist? Well I had no problem this time, congratulating Marie Obegi, a young Lebanese French artist, who works in New York and was opening her first Paris exhibition at Galerie Kogan near the Pompidou center.Read More
Van Cleef and Bob Wilson, a magical world
I am not sure there were any koalas nor girafes in Jan Brueghel the Elder’s « The Entry of the animals into Noah‘s Ark”, but the inspiration for the fabulous Van Cleef & Arpels exhibition in Hôtel d’Evreux is certainly convincing. I thought that the name of Bob Wilson as the designer was just an excuse! I was wrong, he did a great job and this is a pure moment of joy, entrance is free.
Prince de Condé still reigns over Chantilly
There is definitely a new wind blowing over Musée Condé in Chantilly where Mathieu Deldicque, (« I am not thirty yet ») has curated an exhibition on « Le Grand Condé », the courageous winner of Battle de Rocroi in 1643. He was the first cousin to King Louis XIV, who sided with La Fronde and finally joined the King’s forces again.Read More
In Bayonne, a very Royal wedding
Travelling to Bayonne, in the Basque country, is a fun experience especially when you are welcomed by Olivier Ribbon, curator of Musée Basque et de l’histoire de Bayonne, who devised a brilliant exhibition around Louis XIV’s marriage in St Jean de Luz, in 1660.
Loulou, trendy but disappointing
Loulou is the restaurant of the moment, it opened last May at Musée des Arts Décoratifs, and when I went for lunch, I ran into a few people who worked in media and design. Until the end of September, its white canopy is set in the Tuileries gardens and it offers a last moment of vacation in the center of Paris. But the Italian style cuisine is not very interesting, and the waitress with a large tattoo on her arm and dirty hair was nice but not appealing.
