There are few things more exciting than walking into Grand Palais at ten A.M. and seeing a whole range of 300 maitres d’art. And I was surprised at the number of craftsmen I discovered within two hours. This new art fair « Revelations », started two years ago by Henri Jobbé-Duval, was incredibly successful this year and here are the marvels I found.

Contemporary tapestries by Atelier Pinton in Aubusson were mesmerizing, especially the one by Roger Mühl, and translucid turned wood sculptures by Pascal Oudet were the most curious items there. There were many ceramists including Joram Rozewicz from Poland who designs tableware in Tunisia and Marik Korus who makes the most amazing jellyfish and underwater creations in porcelain.

A more industrial manufacturer, Rémy Garnier creates bronze door handles which are as precious as jewelry. It uses centuries of craftsmanship to create contemporary art and is well worth a visit if you are moving into a new house!
