It was fun to visit marché Serpette in Saint Ouen, at night and with food and wine served on every stand, and music around the corner. The occasion for this festive evening was the celebration of the 70 years of activity of the most elaborate and largest flea market in Paris. The interior market called Paul Bert is surrounded by many streets of antique dealers who concentrate more and more on 20 th century style. On the 50’s to be more precise.

The restaurant Ma Cocotte designed by Philip Starck is a convenient meeting place before roaming the alleys. I particularly like glasses and could not make up my mind in front of old Baccarat and Murano suspensions.

I had found the perfect friend in Denys Laroche who knew every single salesman and spent his time asking for more friends to come and show us their merchandise. There is something about the flea market which is bohemian chic and a little bit like hôtel Drouot auctions, where you feel you could buy a treasure for a very modest price.

After contemplating buying many plates, and a few wicker chairs for the summer, we retrieved our car from the most charming group of “voituriers” who live nearby and felt a little younger and happier for the many objects we could have bought.
