Shoes, scarves and socks at “Germaine Pratinette”

My favorite shoe has light soles which are designed to support the foot inside

There is something delectable about finding confortable shoes which are also pretty. I love to walk and need to have solid supporting soles, yet light shoes. This is what I found at “Germaine Pratinette”, a discreet shoe shop on rue du Pré aux Clercs, near Saint Germain des Prés. The name is a pond on germanopratin, meaning from St Germain des Prés.

Marie Hélène Beaureparie is the dynamic owner of this treasure place, she is trying on “Berthe aux grands pieds” socks

Shoes and scarfs are Italian, socks come from Burgundy, from Manufacture Perrin, a company founded in 1924 in Montceau les Mines. This month, Marie Hélène Beaurepaire, the owner, is celebrating Berthe aux grands pieds socks. This Queen of France was the mother of Charlemagne and the wife of Pépin le Bref and had a foot larger than the other. Perrin made of point of creating colorful and fun socks which enliven our winter.

The shop is on 11 rue du Pré aux Clercs near Sciences Pô

I usually buy scarfs there for my friends: they are large, soft and colorful with the refinement of Italian design (90 to 150€). Shoes in all colors range from 220 to 270€. Light jewelry from Murano and boots are all great presents for Christmas! And Marie Hélène will go out over way to recommend the best choice. I have never been disappointed…  (Germaine Pratinette, 11 rue du Pré aux Clercs)

Géniaux ces jolis souliers… et en face Begum en fait aussi de très beaux fabriqués par des artisans qui travaillent avec Hermès…

J’adore Germaine Pratinette. And that’s all my French! Bought monk strap suede “Herman” shoes, would love a second pair.
