Rose Morant, Necklace “Jardin des Plantes” with jade, rubis, tourmaline, quartz, lacquer, gold leaf and cristal

Naïla de Montbrison has been exhibiting artists’ jewelry since 1987 and her enthusiasm and the youthful style of her pieces are unchanged. This new exhibition  of six artists can be seen by appointment: it is full of spring colors and vegetal influences. The Greek sculptor Corinna Coutouzi, Delphine Nardin, Violaine Febvret, Hong Kong based Rose Morant, Swiss artist Gilles Jonemann, Juliette Polac, are all quite enchanting.

Gilles Jonemann, Necklace in palissandre wood and steel threads

Rose Morant is Franco Swiss, lives in Hong Kong and often exhibits in Vietnam. She designs furniture, sculpts and creates whimsical jewelry like this necklace where she has mixed different precious stones with jade. She has been with the gallery for five years. Corinna Coutouzi combines her desire and the resistance of the metal to create marvels. She has used simple five cents € coins to create bracelets an earrings for this show, using her experience as a sculptor’s assistant.  She likes to associate simple material like copper with a precious stone like the nest which she produced in 2011 with a starred rubis resting in it.

Gilles Jonemann had a large exhibit of his work at MAD in 1989: he constantly looks for new techniques and not previously used  materials to create a new language for jewelry. His necklace in palissandre wood is sublime. He has made rings in urchin, in seeds and in bottle glass with silver lining. He likes to surprise his collectors.

Delphine Nardin often works with frosted glass and has collaborated with the silversmith Christofle. She is exhibited in many museums. She works on transparency and lightness. Violaine Febvret works mostly with metal, gold and silver and talks magnificently about them: “One has to listen to metal, not brutalise it too much because they can easily be wasted”.

There are many more rings and necklaces by these faithful artists who have all had solos shows with the gallery before. It is a delight to spend some time with Naïla de Montbrison who is a great connoisseur and has a perfect eye for new artists.
