Isabelle Baer is a very special person. She worked for many years as Pierre Celeyron’s good fairy organizing weddings and eccentric evenings at Versailles and has three brilliant children. Julien who is a talented singer and musician who also writes poetry, a daughter Pauline, who just published a book “La collection disparue” on her family’s painting collections which were looted by the Nazis. She is trying to recover them and she narrates her father’s family history throughout the search. And a son, Edouard, a famous French comedian and Homme du Monde who is on stage at Théâtre Antoine at the moment with a one man show, “Les Elucubrations d’un homme frappé par la grâce”. She has kindly produced this table full of the Christmas spirit.

Surrounded by talented friends and family Isabelle Baer has a magic touch for creating Christmas with just a few items. Her sister Sylvie Saint André Perrin has made these green plates in mixed clay for her. She is a well known ceramist in Montparnasse. The liveliness of the table comes from the little terra-cotta animals sold by Juste Mauve, Anne Marie de Ganay’s boutique online. They try to grab the fruits confits, candied fruit, and little meringues and hazelnuts. The vintage candles, the silver and very grand napkins add a special chic to the Mexican washable tablecloth!

Anne Marie de Ganay had, years ago, a shop called Juste Mauve in the 16 th arrondissement. Now and especially this Christmas, the catalog is online on Instagram or Facebook and you can pick your decorations and plates. In this picture, glasses come from Murano, plates are in  porcelain imitating silver, cushions and tablecloth are made with Zara Home kitchen tea towels sown together. Anne Marie has always been a keen decorator, very inspired by the British style and quite extravagant in her taste. This over-the-top blue and white table with old and modern Dutch Compagnie de Indes dishes is great fun.

In her twice a year sales, she finds extraordinary cashmere shawls and decorative items in every exotic country of the world. The ultimate snobbism is of course to prepare a table in her kitchen which looks like a glamorous dining room. And notice the candles held in little watering cans, everything is in the details!  I hope these tables are inspiring?
