Yes it’s open in August!

A very cool bag for the summer

Paris is wonderful in August because you park everywhere and everyone is smiling at you. Except when you look for a post office, like I did this morning, and you realize they are all closed until 1pm!!! While walking on rue des Archives, I ran into a wonderful store, La Garçonnière, at the corner of rue Braque where Thérèse Delpech, our wonderful friend used to live. I had never stepped into this concept store before, because it is mostly dedicated to men’s accessories, a barber shop and a little fashion. But Inès Olaechea has created a pop up store for the summer and sells her wonderful Colombian baskets and jewelry by Mercedes Salazar from her shop 85° Paris (on 38 rue de l’Université). If you need a last minute present for your free holidays at a friend’s house, go there, you ‘ll find everything you need!

My favorite earrings from Colombia

There are some great long cotton dresses, and relaxed beach bags which all have a sophisticated touch. In the men’s part of the store, I loved the Loo instant Automat Polaroid cameras  and the cheap but apparently good sunglasses by Izipizi at 35€ and the very relaxed restaurant Café Gloutons, where you can have a bite of Avocado toast or rosbif mayo. There is a vegetarian curry and, of course, a Buddha Bowl… and carrot cake, one of my favorites.

The restaurant is super cool and is called Café Gloutons

So don’t miss out on this August goodie and rejoice over La Garçonnière which was founded by six great friends (all boys) from Bordeaux and Paris who wanted to have a confortable place to shop and have a drink after they graduated from business school. Just your idea of a perfect set up for a Tinder first meeting!

The lovely 35€ sun glasses

So make sure when you come out of the Dora Maar or Prehistory exhibits at the Pompidou center or the Musée de la Chasse across the street,  on your way to Ma Bourgogne on Place des Vosges, to stop at this lovely shop which opened last October. It is fun and unpretentious, and full of great ideas including bathing suits…

La Garçonnière is open from 11 am to 7 pm, 47 rue des Archives.
