To comply with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) in force from May 25, 2018, Paris Diary by Laure has therefore set up this page describing its privacy policy. Its rights and duties are thus listed, as well as the policy for managing the personal data of its users. By browsing the site Paris Diary by Laure, you accept what is described below. Nevertheless, you have a right of rectification and deletion of your personal data.

Use of personal data collected

Newsletter

Every Tuesday, Paris Diary by Laure sends a newsletter to its subscribers. Paris Diary by Laure no longer uses an external email service provider to send the Paris Diary by Laure newsletter. To preserve the privacy of its subscribers at a better extent, Paris Diary by Laure uses its internal emailing solution provided by the webmaster.

There are several ways to sign up to the weekly Paris Diary by Laure newsletter:

  • by submitting your email address to the newsletter subscription widget located on the right sidebar ;
  • by commenting on the blog, and checking the newsletter subscription checkbox ;
  • by showing interest of our blog and contacting us on the contact form.

Our internal newsletter plugin will store your name (when provided) and email address for the purpose to send every Tuesday the weekly newsletter you have subscribed to.

Paris Diary by Laure does need to store the IP address for security purposes to prevent bots from subscribing automatically to the newsletter and from eventually spamming as well the comments on the blog posts.

Comments

When you leave a comment on our website, the data entered in the comment form, but also your IP address and the user agent of your browser are collected to help us detect unwanted comments.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) is sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The confidentiality clauses of the Gravatar service are available here. After validation of your comment, your profile photo will be publicly visible next to your comment.

Paris Diary by Laure verifies all visitor comments with the aid of the automated spam detection service Akismet. We reserve the right to delete comments.

Cookies

Paris Diary by Laure uses the audience measurement system Google Analytics 4. It uses first-party cookies which keeps them compliant with privacy laws like GDPR.

If you leave a comment on our site, you will be offered to save your name, email address and website in cookies. This is only for your convenience so that you do not have to enter this information if you leave another comment later. These cookies expire after one year.

If you have an account and you connect to this site, a temporary cookie will be created to determine if your browser accepts cookies. It does not contain personal data and will be deleted automatically when you close your browser.

When you log in, Paris Diary by Laure will set a number of cookies to save your login details and screen preferences. The lifetime of a connection cookie is two days, that of a screen option cookie is one year. If you check “Remember me”, your login cookie will be kept for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookie is deleted.

If you leave a comment, your email address and IP address are retained indefinitely.

If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address and IP address are retained indefinitely.
You have the right to unsubscribe by clicking on the unsubscribe link of the newsletter.
You can also request the deletion of your subscription data by contacting the Data Protection Officer.

For users who register on our site, Paris Diary by Laure also stores the personal data indicated in their profile indefinitely. All users can see, modify or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username). Site administrators can also view and edit this information.

The rights you have over your data

If you have an account or if you have left comments on the site, you can request to receive a file containing all the personal data that Paris Diary by Laure has about you, including those that you have provided to us. You can also request the deletion of personal data concerning you. This does not take into account data stored for administrative, legal or security reasons.

How we protect your data

Paris Diary by Laure makes every effort to protect its users. The connection between the site and your browser is encrypted by an encryption certificate provided by the Certificate Authority Let’s Encrypt. We solely delegate the website management to our webmaster Devopsy who also created our website.
