For once, I was happy to have missed the opening of the show. Not only because my spies told me  it was packed and the cardboard forest “Panorama” created by Eva Jospin at the Louvre was hard to see. But mostly because when I went this morning, I was greeted by my name by the most ravishing creature, a young artist called Iris de Turckheim.

It took me a little time to recover from my sudden celebrity … I looked around to see if I knew anyone in the crowd of Louvre tourists, and I just realized I had met Iris many times, when she was a little girl, because her famous parents are friends. Anyway, her sunny smile gives an immediate shine to Eva Jospin’s show in the Cour carrée du Louvre.

Produced by the Noirmontartproduction company, a huge cube of mirrors reflects the different buildings of the Louvre around. When you walk inside, you discover a forest of cardboard sculpted trees, which form a circle around you, a real panorama. The artist wanted to show the contrast between city and country.

I am not sure that this is what we feel when inside, for her forest is very mineral, but the effect is smashing and the talent of former prime minister Lionel Jospin’s daughter is confirmed. She had already exhibited a similar forest in 2011 at Galerie Pièce Unique. Now she has entered the Louvre.

It is free, it takes five minutes and it is really fun. Try to go in the morning to meet Iris who will give you all the infos in English and French. She is there for two months…And on the way out, you can cross the passerelle des arts towards the French Academy. It makes for a beautiful conclusion.
